However, if I were looking for a new TV today, I would likely be looking harder at QLED panels after my current experience. Watching bright and colorful content in Dolby Vision is stunning and the rich blacks are BLACK. Something else to consider if you’re looking at panels with different surface reflectivity and what environment you’re watching it in. My CX is glass and highly reflective, so it’s not ideal for the room I have it in to watch darker content during the day. One other thing to consider is the screen texture. Brighter or varied HDR, any SDR content or any video games (even in Dolby Vision/HDR10) have never been an issue. That said, it’s only an issue with persistent VERY dark content in HDR (Game of Thrones/House of Dragon is a serial offender). There is one setting that you need a special remote to disable, but it voids your warranty. This is with ALL possible image burn in protection setting turned off. I have to bump the remote or pause the movie to get the menu to pop up and it brightens back up. If the brightness of the overall image doesn’t increase after ~5 min the screen is basically unwatchable. The one thing I REALLY don’t like about my specific TV (not sure how common this is among OLEDs) is that you can’t fully turn off the panel protection software without voiding your warranty.īecause of this, there is a thing that happens when watching very dark content in HDR that causes the image to get progressively darker and darker. So there’s a relatively high amount of hours on it in total, but across a variety of content.Īs others suggested, there are a number of features you can turn on or off depending how concerned you are about burn in (pixel shifting, screen savers/dimming, pixel refresher, UI transparency). The TV is usually on with TV or movies the rest of the day (around 10am to midnight). The rest of the time it’s been somewhere in between. I haven’t been playing D2 much at all over the past 6 months though. I play on XBox Series X, and during my most intense gaming periods I was playing D2 for 6-8 hours a day 3-4 days a week for about 6 months. I’ve been using an LG CX55 for almost exactly 2 years with no burn in issues at all. Purely anecdotal review, do what you will with the info: Who finally got a PS4? Norsefenrir! Happy birthday!
